Format JSON while preserving the original values

Try a small document first

Paste {"name":"Ada","active":true} and run the formatter. The result places each property on its own indented line. Strings use double quotes; true is a boolean, while "true" is a string. Formatting changes whitespace, not the meaning of either value.

Large numbers retain their spelling

The integer 9007199254740993 remains 9007199254740993, and 1.2300 keeps its trailing zeros. The formatter validates syntax and changes whitespace outside strings instead of serializing a JavaScript number. A receiving application can still round large numbers; send identifiers as strings if that application requires it.

Formatting cannot repair an ambiguous document

A trailing comma such as {"a":1,} is invalid JSON. Remove the comma and try again. Duplicate keys are preserved, but another parser may discard earlier values, so review duplicates yourself. Use synthetic values when sharing examples: clipboard history and extensions are outside this tool’s control.
